How an event and wedding planner grew Google clicks by 60% in six months
A planner of weddings, corporate events and private parties wanted to reach couples and companies searching for a planner, not just people who already knew the name.
+60%
Google clicks over six months (825 to 1,310)
+55%
Google clicks in Q3, year on year
85%
of Q3 clicks from non-branded searches
The challenge
The site had beautiful photography but little written content on its venue, service and portfolio pages, so Google had little to rank them for.
Local and international competitors were winning searches with detailed service pages covering planning, venues, accommodation and pricing.
What we did
- Optimised 24 venue pages and 3 service pages around how couples and companies search
- Wrote 8 blog articles answering planning questions, linked to the right venues and services
- Updated category pages, metadata and internal links
- Researched local and international competitors to find content gaps
- Reported monthly, with clear insights on what to do next
The results
Clicks from Google grew 60% over six months, from 825 to 1,310. In Q3, clicks rose 55% year on year, and click-through rate climbed from 1.37% to 2.34%, so the site now appears for more relevant searches.
85% of Q3 clicks came from non-branded searches, from people looking for a wedding planner or help with a corporate event rather than the business by name. New blog articles now rank among the top 10 pages for traffic, and clicks from the client’s main market grew 74% year on year.
